It is rare to see carbon belt breakage during the barcode printing process, but it does not mean that it will not occur. Based on past customer experience, we will summarize the reasons for carbon belt breakage:
1. If the printing temperature (also known as concentration or pressure) is set too high, the carbon tape base film will melt.
Usually, the base film of carbon tape is a layer of 4.5 μ PET film with left and right thicknesses also has its melting point. When the temperature is set too high, the temperature of the print head rises to the melting point of the PET film, causing the base film to melt and the carbon tape to break. Usually, lowering the temperature appropriately can solve the problem of band breakage.
This situation may occur when the customer is printing resin carbon tape and later switching to wax based or mixed carbon tape without adjusting the temperature in a timely manner, and there may also be beginners who do not pay attention during the debugging process.
Addendum: The lifespan of the print head of a barcode printer is related to the printing temperature. Prolonged high-temperature operation poses a risk of damage to the print head. Therefore, it is recommended to adjust the printing temperature from low to high when testing the printing effect, rather than from high to low.
Sometimes there is a breakage of the carbon belt. When we open the carbon belt compartment, we find that the carbon belt is almost exhausted before it breaks. At this time, we replace it with a new roll of carbon belt, but there is no breakage of the belt.
This situation occurs because the tension of the carbon belt supply shaft is too high, exceeding the tension that the carbon belt can withstand, leading to the fracture of the carbon belt. Adjusting the tension (looseness) of the supply shaft can reduce the likelihood of this situation occurring.
Specifically, reduce the tension of the carbon belt supply shaft; If the tension adjustment of the carbon belt supply shaft is reduced, but the carbon belt is still not very smooth, the tension of the carbon back to the winding shaft can be increased. By adjusting the two carbon belt shafts, the carbon belt can rotate more smoothly, thereby avoiding belt breakage.
3. Of course, if it doesn't feel like it belongs to the above two situations, then the remaining issue may be the quality of the carbon tape itself. Try using a different manufacturer's carbon tape.
